Rose Gold Vibes.

Hello there beautiful and welcome to the new and improved Diary of a Brit Girl site! In light of a few life changes, I felt like I was in need of a seriously good makeover and where best to start? The site is now sleeker and more professional looking but still has that personal touch - hello pink nav bar! I've spent a good couple of weeks beautifying my site and I can confirm it was all coded by me, with the help of google of course! I hope you enjoy the new look and do let me know what you think, you can comment below or find me on social media above! Now onto the post...

Rose gold is one of those trends that won't budge and I can certainly see why - it's somewhere in between copper and gold, but a much softer tone with a feminine pink hue. It's on jewellery, home accessories, notebooks and even a colourway for the Iphone 6. In short, you can't escape it, so you might as well embrace it. I bought the Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 palette a while ago and I love the range of pink tones that it offers in both matte and shimmery shades, however I've not really played about with it until now. I really wanted to create a rose gold inspired look and this palette was the perfect thing for the job, but first - base.

I flit between matte and dewy when it comes to a base look, but I always like to give myself a slight bronzy glow to make my complexion a little healthier and erase any hint of tiredness. This look was no exception, however I wanted it to be a little more bronze to compliment the golden hues in the eye and lip and take this look from day to night. Firstly I used Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 10 on blemishes and then, using a stippling brush, applied Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation in Pure Beige over my full face to the top of my neck. Next, I apply concealer under my eyes and along the bridge of my nose and Clinique Chubby Contour Stick along my cheekbones and sides of my nose. This is blended with a stippling brush and my finger for my lower lid and my face is set with Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot pressed powder (make sure to blend with a blush brush as this powder is thick!). I define my contour with Benefit Hoola and NYX blusher in Pinched and then highlight the tops of my cheekbones and bridge of my nose with Makeup Revolution highlighter in Peach Glow. This combination gives me that desired bronzed glow and is perfect for rainy British summers when the sun has deserted us!

My brows are filled in with MAC Fluidline brow gel in Dirty Blonde, applied with a angled brush and cleaned up with my Fit Me concealer (remember to blend well and apply before powder!). The rose gold shimmer on my eyelids is created using Shade 4 for the base, shade 7 is then blended into the crease and the outer edge and shade 6 is gently dabbed over the main part of the lid and blended into shade 7. There are some more shimmery tones within the palette that would compliment this look, but I decided to use Shade 4 and 7 as they are matte and would create a contrast with shade 6 (a shimmery rose gold) to help bring it to life. The upper lid is then lined with Maybelline Gel liner in Black - cat eye as always!

One of my favourite parts of this look is the lip combination and is currently my most worn - it's perfect for both day and night looks and is a great rosy nude for any skin tone. I line my lips with Mac lip liner in Soar, lining around the lips and filling them in slightly from the edge. I then blend in Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick in Nude Perfection, making sure to erase the look of a darker lip line and set with lipcote to avoid smudging. Not only does it complete the rose gold theme, but it can also be paired with more natural eye makeup for daywear or even used to finish off an evening look to make dark smokey eyes pop! Soar can also be used to line most other medium pink lipsticks and applies smoothly with minimal smudging and Nude perfection is great on it's own for casual looks and is easy to apply due to its crayon shape.

The quality of the Makeup Revolution palette is second to none, the eyeshadows are highly pigmented and apply with ease onto the lid, with minimal creasing throughout the day. Each tone appears on the skin as it does in the palette without any colour loss, which I usually find in cheap palettes and there's minimal fallout. It's 100% worth its bargain £4 price tag and I would happily pay more, however I love that Makeup Revolution products are so accessible.

Overall I'm really loving this look at the moment, it satisfies my rose gold cravings and I can see it paired with a chic black jumpsuit and heels for a winning date night look.
