Recent MAC purchases and Giveaway.
Photographs and words by me
I'm slowly building my MAC collection with quick stops at Selfridges when I visit London for days out or events, it's quite an expensive habit though and so I'm trying to get items here and there rather than blow my bank balance all at once. My most recent purchases came last month when I travelled to the capital city for the Big Blogger Conference, we had finished for the day and so I braved the stuffy underground to run into Selfridges and get the items I'd had my eye on. I may have spent a small fortune on the four items above but beauty comes at a price and MAC is just so worth it! I've detailed my thoughts on each item after a month of usage below.
Swatches bottom LEft to Right ; Lip Pencil in Soar ; Lipstick in Russian Red ; Fluidline in Dirty Blonde
MAC Fluidline in Dirt Blonde (£16.00) - I've used a lot of eyebrow products in order to achieve the perfect brow and this includes powders and pencils, however nothing has compared to this gel alternative offered by MAC. It's easy to use and you can paint with it, draw with it and blend to create your desired shape and look. You can also build on the product for a darker colour or apply just one layer for a more subtle style. I try not to fill my brows in too dark as I don't want too much of a contrast between them and my hair. Instead, I apply the fluidline gel in strokes in the same direction as hair growth and slightly blend the thickest part of my brow but this is just to alleviate any harsh lines. After a month of daily use the product is still mostly full as well, a little goes a long way!
MAC 263 Angled Brush (£16.50) - I bought this brush to accompany Fluidline for easy and neat application. It's a good brush but the price is definitely eye-watering, coming in more expensive than any of my other purchases! The angle allows you to trace the shape of your eyebrow and apply your product exactly how you want it to create your look. I did have to play with it a little to get used to using it, but now I can't imagine going back to a pencil or powder. The angle matched with the Fluidline gel is a quick way of neatening your brows and whilst I would recommend this MAC one, I think you could easily get away with a cheaper alternative.
Lipstick in Russian Red (£15.50) - Well it's safe to say that this is my most favourite red lipstick that I have ever purchased! I'm a bit of a sucker for a red lip, especially in the Autumn/Winter months and this shade of MAC lipstick is perfect to help your look pop! It's a rich creamy consistency with little wear throughout the day. I probably top it up just a couple of times, usually after eating and I have found it doesn't smudge easily which is perfect for someone as clumsy as me. Though MAC lipsticks do retail at a high price in comparison to drugstore brands, I would definitely agree that they are good value for money as you are getting a high quality product. This is the third lipstick that I have purchased and so far they haven't let me down!
Lip Pencil in Soar (£12.50) - I bought Soar to match their lipstick in Mehr, which I wear more than any of my other lipstick colours and I wanted a pencil that would help prep my lips as well as a shade that I could pair with other lipsticks as well. Much like their other products, MAC's lip pencils are high quality and easy to use. This particular shade is a dusky pink with purple undertones and works nicely to shade the edge of my lips and bring the colour to life. I've been really impressed with how pigmented to the colour is and it's really helped me to shape my lipstick rather than just slather it on in the hopes that it looks neat!
And now it's GIVEAWAY time!!!....
Russian Red, Pink Plaid and Mehr
So, onto my gift to you! It's been a week since I relaunched on the blog and I've come a long way since starting this back in March 2014! I've had a lot of fantastic responses to my posts and feedback on the blog in general and it really does warm my heart when I can speak to my readers and know that I have helped or entertained them in some way. In light of this, I felt like I had to give something back to the community and my readers and that's why, from my own pocket, I'm going to give you a chance to win two MAC lipsticks of your own. That's right, this isn't in anyway sponsored by any third party brand or MAC themselves, I will be paying for this all on my own. Unfortunately it is only open to residents of the UK & Ireland and I will only be offering prizes to the value of £15.50 per product (this does not include limited edition products). All you need to do to enter is use the Rafflecoptor widget below and answer a question for me, for more than one entry you can also follow me on Twitter and share a tweet to your followers. I will be notifying the winner via email or social media and once notified you will have 48 hours to respond to me, but you do not need to choose your colours straight away. Once you have decided which ones you want, I will get them for you asap and notify you once shipped. It's as simple as that, no cost to you at all, so why not try your luck? The competition opens today (06.10.15) and ends 06.11.2015 at 12:00am GMT, entries after will not be accepted. Good luck!a Rafflecopter giveaway
